Elena Leguía

Director

An architect born in 1973 in Posadas, Misiones, Elena Leguía has lived in Buenos Aires for nearly three decades. Her career is the result of a constant commitment to excellence, a deep aesthetic sensitivity and a technical capacity that allows her to take on projects of great complexity. A disciple of masters such as Juan Molina y Vedia, Alberto Varas and Sánchez Gómez, she has developed a vision that values human scale, context and meticulous detail as inseparable elements of the creative process.

Trained at the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the UBA, she complemented her studies with postgraduate work in Architecture and Technologies (Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, 2005) and Business Management for Architecture and Construction (ESEADE, 2007). This preparation gives her the ability to integrate into each project not only design and technological innovation, but also a strategic management that ensures coherent and sustainable results.

Her professional experience transcends borders. She has worked in Buenos Aires, New York, London and Fort Lauderdale (USA), collaborating with architecture studios and companies on commissions of varying scale: from large-scale urban interventions to highly personalized residential and interior projects. This international exposure has allowed her to understand and adapt to different cultures and approaches, enriching her practice with a global perspective.

In the field of interior design, Elena stands out for her meticulousness and her ability to create atmospheres that convey warmth, balance and functionality. Every detail, from the selection of materials to the lighting, is conceived to enhance the experience of those who inhabit the spaces.

In 2005 she co-founded Leguía Yias Arquitectos, a studio characterized by material sobriety, integration with the environment and a commitment to sustainability. Under her direction, the studio has developed residential, corporate and urban projects that combine durability, functionality and timeless aesthetics. Works that become references for their construction quality and their capacity to generate identity.

Her participation in competitions has been widely recognized: First Prize in the National Preliminary Design Competition for the Central Park of Mendoza (2000-2001), Second Prize in the National Competition of Urban Ideas for the southern area of Buenos Aires (2002), and mentions in international competitions such as the WTO Expansion in Geneva (2003), the Cultural and Administrative Complex of Montreal (2002) and the Urban Center of Osaka, Japan (2002).

For Elena, architecture is not only the creation of structures, but the opportunity to generate meaningful and lasting experiences. Every project is an act of empathy and precision, an exercise in understanding those who inhabit it and responding to their needs with proposals that transcend the functional. Today, from LY Arquitectos, she continues to explore new ways of designing with a profoundly human and contemporary vision, convinced that good design can transform the way we live, work and relate to our surroundings.
